LAHORE
Speakers at a conference have warned that the Yemen war is not merely a local rebellion, but a grave conspiracy to push the war inside the Saudi Arabia like the war in Afghanistan was shifted inside Pakistan.
They said confusion must be resolved after the prime minister declared Riyadh a strategic partner and warned no politics should be done on the threats to Harmain Sharifain.
Addressing a large public meeting titled ‘Protection of Harmain Sharifain Conference’ at Chuburgi Chowk on Thursday by Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), the leaders of different religious parties warned that the Western media was misleading the Ummah by portraying the war as a sectarian conflict between Shia and Sunni to divert the attention from the actual conspiracy. They said Saudi brothers were calling Pakistan because both were bound through the bond of Islam and protecting the centre of Islam was the foremost duty of every Muslim, especially the nuclear Pakistan.
The conference was chaired by JuD ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed while other speakers included Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki, Jamiat Ahle Hadith president Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer, Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer, Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Rupari, Jamaat Islami leader Dr Farid Paracha, JUI-F leader Maulana Saifuddin Saif, Qari Yaqoob Sheikh, Maulana Saifullah Khalid and others. They said Pakistan was created in the name of Islam so it could not alienate itself from the Yemen war which posed serious dangers to Haramain Sharifain.
The leaders of other parties supported Hafiz Saeed in his campaign to mobilise public opinion in every nook and corner of the country for sending Pakistan Army to protect the Muslim Holy land. Hafiz Saeed announced that the campaign of holding public meetings across big cities would continue and Friday (today) would be observed as solidarity day with Riyadh, holding rallies and demonstrations to create public awareness regarding the threats to Harmain Sharifain. He said the largest demonstration would be held in Faisalabad.
“It’s to be decided by the Saudis, not by anybody else, that whether the security of Saudi Arabia is under threat or not,” said Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in his presidential address.
Hafiz Saeed said the issue directly concerned the state of faith of Muslims and they must not show any hesitation otherwise the enemies of Islam would succeed in their conspiracy. Hafiz Saeed lauded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for making it clear that resolution of Pakistani parliament was not understood in right perspective and that Islamabad would employ all resources to protect the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia. He added that now it was the duty of the prime minister to demonstrate the earnestness of this policy statement.
He said opponents of sending army to Saudi Arabia must remember that the war waged by US was ‘others war’ but threats to Saudi Arabia was not ‘others war’ since it was for protection of Harmain Sharifain. He said Arab countries considered Pakistan their real protector, adding King Salman bin Abdulaziz didn’t ask the United States for their defence, rather he reposed his trust on Pakistan which was a matter of great pride for the people Pakistan. He said it was prime duty of every Muslim to sacrifice his everything; life, property, for the security of Holy cities.
He demanded Houthi rebels in Yemen should vacate the capital and legitimate government should be restored.
Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer said if rebellion in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan were illegal then why rebellion in Yemen could be called a just struggle for power. Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer said no Muslim could ignore the threats to Harmain Sharifain. He said every Muslim was ready to sacrifice everything for the protection of Harmain Sharifain.
Dr Farid Paracha said protecting Saudi Arabia from outside threats was not a matter of Shia-Sunni strife or Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict, but was purely a matter of rebellion against a legal government which was a crime against the state. Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki said it was time Pakistan should forge unity in its ranks.
A large number of leaders including Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar, Maulana Amir Hamza, Qari Yaqoob Shaikh and Maulana Saif Ullah Khalid addressed the conference.
JI: JI spokesman Amirul Azeem has said the party is running a full-fledged campaign for its candidate Rashid Naseem in Karachi by-elections, adding JI ameer Sirajul Haq has cancelled his other programmes to lead the election campaign.
In a statement on Thursday, he said JI would hold a big rally, an Ulema convention and a women convention in Karachi.
He said JI had rendered huge sacrifices in the constituency and local people supported JI which had already won elections in the constituency twice in the past. Religious parties including JUI and JUP had already joined the JI election campaign while PML-N leadership assured full support to the JI candidate.
