Defence-A police have yet to arrest two suspected robbers for attempting to loot an MPA outside her house and injuring her two guards on resistance on Tuesday night.
Police registered a case. In charge Investigation Syed Zahid Hussain told The News that circumstantial evidences suggested that it was a robbery attempt as the robbers snatched the rifle from one of the security guards.
On Tuesday night, two people riding a bike had approached MPA Rashida Yaqub outside her house and tried to snatch valuables from her. When her security guards put resistance, the robbers opened fire at them. As a result, guards Ghulam Mustafa and Ghulam Hussain received bullet injuries.
arrested: Customs officials Wednesday registered an FIR against three people Alfred, Javed Khokhar and Amer Malik who were arrested on Tuesday night from a house in DHA with 620 foreign liquor bottles.
The raid was conducted on the information of Collector Customs Preventive, Lahore. The team headed by Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Deputy Collector, and comprising Mumtaz Ajmal Mian, Superintendent Customs, raided a house in XX-Block DHA and recovered the liquor after arresting the accused.
Meanwhile, Green Town Investigations Police claimed to have arrested two members of Mana Dacoit Gang and recovered gold ornaments, mobile phones, cash, other valuables and weapons. The accused were identified as Imran alias Mana and Umer Maseeh. The accused confessed 27 robberies in Green Town, Township, Quid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Johar Town, Sabzazar, Hunjarwal, Faisal Town, Liaqatabad and Nawaz Town areas. SSP Investigations Rana Ayyaz Saleem announced commendatory certificates for the special police team.
Meanwhile, Sabzazar police claimed to have arrested two members of Babar alias Matha motorcycle lifting and snatching gang and recovered mobile phones, bikes and weapons from them. The accused were identified as Babar Ali alias Matha, son of Tariq Ali, and M Ashraf alias Chooha, son of M Yousaf.
Body found: Body of 25-year-old man was found in the Shafiqabad police limits on Wednesday.
The man was identified as Wahid. A passerby informed the police about the body in Amin Park.
Amin, elder brother of Wahid, told the police that his brother was a drug addict.
INJURED DIES: An 18-year-old man succumbed to his injuries in Jinnah Hospital in Sabzazar police limits. The victim was injured in a road accident on Tuesday and was admitted to the hospital where he died on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man died in Kot Lakhpat Jail. Ghulam Mustafa of Sialkot was imprisoned on charges of kidnapping. A few days ago his condition deteriorated and he was shifted to a hospital where he died. ASI Amin said the cause of the death would be ascertained after autopsy.
