A 35-year-old woman committed suicide after taking poisonous pills in Shafiqabad on Saturday.
She was identified as Mumtaz Bibi, a resident of Khokhar Town, Bund Road, Shafiqabad. Police said Mumtaz Bibi was depressed over the death of her son who had died after boiling milk accidentally fell on him some months back.
On the day of incident, Mumtaz Bibi took poisonous pills. As a result, her condition went critical. She was rushed to a local hospital where she died.Police handed over the body to the family after completing the legal formalities.

The victim was identified as Ramzan, a rickshaw driver by profession. Police said the accused identified as Daood and Shani had nursed a grudge against victim Razman who had prevented them from teasing ladies. The accused approached the victim two days back and severely wounded him.
The injured Ramzan was admitted to a local hospital where he succumbed to wounds on Saturday. Hunjarwal police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case against Shani and Daood on the complaint of victim’s son Adnan.
accidents: At least 715 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which 21 lives were lost and 646 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 337 minor injured were provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to a data provided by the PMC, about 299 drivers, 24 underage drivers, 108 pedestrians and 569 passengers were among the injured of these road traffic accidents.
The statistics show 136 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 127 persons placing the Provincial Capital at the top of the list followed by 72 RTAs in Faisalabad with 91 victims and Multan at third position with 37 RTAs and 81 victims.
DETAIL further show that total 1,004 persons were affected by road traffic crashes including 755 males and 249 females, while the age group of the affected persons showed that 145 were under 18 years of age, 640 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 219 injured were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 593 motorbikes, 92 auto rickshaws, 75 motorcars, 49 vans, six passenger buses, 23 trucks and 68 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
Three thieves held: Nishtar Colony police arrested three robbers and recovered booty and weapons from their possession.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Feezan, Shafaqat and Hameed Ullah, confessed to committing 10 such crimes in various parts of the city. Police recovered three bikes, cell-phones and illicit weapons from their possession.
