Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin has said scope of inspection of special taskforce will have to be enhanced for ensuring implementation on reduction in transport fares.
He expressed these views chairing a meeting at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday. The meeting was informed that special taskforce imposed a fine of about Rs 89 lakh to 4,500 vehicles for overcharging, cancelled route permits of 323 buses, arrested 471 conductors, sealed 22 bus stands and impounded 610 buses during inspection at various points. The meeting was informed that 92 complaints were received in this regard and were redressed. The minister directed the secretary transport uniform fares should be displayed at bus stands for people. The secretary industries said after reduction in the prices of petroleum products, rates of edible items have reduced substantially and daily use commodities are available in abundance. —Correspondent
