LAHORE
AN NGO on Thursday in a statement condemned the torture and abuse of domestic child workers in Punjab and urged the chief minister Punjab for banning domestic child labour in the province.
The NGO spokesperson Rashida Qureshi shared that on 27th of January torture on a 10-year old girl Ansara by her employers and on 28th of January torture on 15-year-old Shakeela by her employers in Lahore were the only cases highlighted in the media otherwise every third and fourth house in posh areas in Punjab had domestic child workers who were abused, raped, sodomised, exploited, tortured and even murdered but the governments of Pakistan and Punjab had no yet come up with necessary legal, administrative, financial and other measures to prevent and respond to this kind of violence against children in the province.
The NGO shared that due to given nature of domestic child work, international community and the UN had declared it a form of slavery.
