LAHORE
PRESIDENT PPP Central Punjab Mian Manzoor Wattoo has said the resignation of Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar amplifies his helplessness as he could not deliver to improve the quality of life of the poor masses to which he was committed from the outset.
In a statement on Thursday, he said Sarwar himself tendered resignation from the office because he wielded no power and was helpless in the face of exclusive governance style of the Punjab chief minister.
He recalled that Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had been urging the government to hold local bodies’ elections, provide education to 23 million children and arrange supply of clean drinking water but his efforts to persuade the top leadership fell on their deaf ears as there was no change of heart and the apathy continued to sway the thinking of the mandarins.
He observed that Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar rightly pointed out the failure of the diplomacy of Pakistan because the US President visited India twice but not Pakistan even once despite the fact that the country had been facing major brunt of terrorism as a frontline state.
He was right that the government failed to sensitise the US administration about the sacrifices and sufferings of Pakistani nation undergone during the war on terror, he added.
The miseries of the loadshedding of gas and electricity along with the disappearing of the petrol during the last week exposed the height of mismanagement and inaptness of the government because it could not anticipate the supply and demand of these essential services well in advance.
He said the people of Pakistan had been fed up with this government due to day-to-day crises adding their all hopes of any improvement had been dashed for all times to come.
He added that their claims of controlling the loadshedding of electricity in months instead of years sounded grossly laughable because the situation of the loadshedding instead of improving had gone from bad to worse.
Later, Pir Nau Bahar Shah,Co-Chairman Shia Political Party, called on Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab, and assured him of his party support to the PPP because relations between the two parties had always been cordial which were based on mutual respect.
He expressed his full confidence in the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co-Chairman Asef Ali Zardari adding the country would overcome its difficulties under their leadership because they believed in equality of all citizens in terms of fundamental rights regardless of creed and gender.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo thanked Pir Nau Bihar Shah and assured him of the implementation of fundamental rights to all citizens of Pakistan in consonance with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam and of the Constitution of Pakistan given by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
He said the PPP was a liberal, progressive and democratic party and would continue its struggle till the full realisation of fundamental rights to the people of Pakistan across the board. The PPP is against all kinds of discriminations because that is the corner stone of the PPP political philosophy, he maintained.
