MUSLIM Town police arrested two people for torturing and detaining a 10-year-old girl. Police have registered an FIR against accused Kaleem and his wife on the complaint of Fiaz Ahmad, Assistant Director Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB). Girl, Ansar, and another child, Farman, were recovered during a raid by a team of CP&WB. The girl was tortured. The accused had lent Rs 25, 000 to the father of the girl.
FOUND DEAD: A 70-year-old man was found dead in the Harbanspura police limits on Wednesday.
A passerby informed the police about the body lying near Harbanspura Pull. Police claimed that the man seemed a drug addict, however, it removed the body to morgue for autopsy.
dies: A 50-year-old man was killed in an accident in Shafiqabad police limits. The man was crossing a road near Batti Chowk when a motorbike hit him. As a result, he received injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
PUNISHED: Chief Traffic Police Officer punished 14 traffic police officials. CTO Tayyab Hafeez Cheema dismissed a traffic warden, Ghazanfar, from service for remaining absent from duty without intimating the department. He issued show cause notices to Sector In charge, Township, Akhtar Ali, In charge Shahdara, Tariq Shah, In charge Niaz Beg, Gulbaz, In charge, Sherakot, Fiaz Ahmad, In charge Township, Zahid Mukhtar, In charge Mall-III Sheikh Afzal, Patrolling Officer Nawan Kot, Abid and Patrolling Officer, Town Ship, Jafar for inattention and negligence. He suspended warden Azam from Township Sector and attached salary for the same reason. The CTO asked the wardens to be polite with the citizens.
accidents: At least 503 road accidents were reported in Rescue 1122 Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which 9 lives were lost and 359 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. Some 215 minor injured were provided first aid by Rescue 1122 on the spot. According to data provided by the PMC, 219 drivers, 13 underage drivers, 104 pedestrians and 260 passengers were among the injured persons of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 117 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 130 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 43 RTAs in Faisalabad with 59 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 37 RTAs and 37 victims.
The details further show that total 583 persons were affected by road traffic crashes including 464 males and 119 females, while age group of the affected persons show that 56 were under 18 year of age,364 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 163 injured people were reported above 40 years.
