LAHORE
THE Lahore High Court on Friday issued notices to Pakistan State Oil and petroleum ministry and summoned attorney general of Pakistan on a petition challenging shortage of petroleum products.
Justice Shahid Waheed issued this order on a petition moved by Gohar Nawaz Sindhu. The petitioner submitted that since January 14 province was facing acute shortage of petroleum due to mismanagement of PSO. He said PSO had not paid due amount to the ministry of petroleum because of which the shortage had occurred. He said instead of paying the due amount of Rs200 billion, the PSO had paid only Rs17 billion which had caused the shortage. He said citizens were suffering due to non-availability of the petroleum. He said right of life and right of free movement were the fundamental rights guaranteed by Article 15 of the Constitution but the same were being violated.
The petitioner said he was a practising lawyer and lived in Johar Town. He said because of non-availability of petroleum products, he was facing hardships in reaching the Lahore High Court from his home which was tantamount to obstructing the way of justice. He prayed the court to ensure necessary action for provision of the petroleum products throughout the province by issuing directions to the respondents.
reinstated: The Lahore High Court on Friday set aside dismissal order of a civil judge and restored him.
The LHC administration committee had terminated civil judge Muhammad Anayat Gondal on the charges of misconduct and he approached Punjab Subordinate Judiciary Service Tribunal (PSJST) against his dismissal.
Advocate Mian Tariq Hussain appearing on behalf of the civil judge submitted that his client was not given an opportunity of personal hearing before terminating him and one-sided decision was given against him in violation of the principle of natural justice.
Gondal was terminated on May 12, 2012 on the allegations of corruption. A litigant had complained against him that he had given decision against him after taking bribe from his opponent party when he was civil judge in Toba Tek Singh.
