MINISTER Law, Excise & Taxation and Finance Punjab Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said there is a wide range of mutual trade between Iran and Punjab and Punjab can expand its export of rice, fruits, vegetables, meat and other items to Iran. He said Pakistan and Iran were brotherly countries and rich cultural heritage and common traditions of bilateral relations had become stronger with the passage of time. He said that after the visits of chief minister Punjab, Iranian traders had invested in Punjab and was interested for further investment in various sectors.
He expressed these views while reviewing the chances of enhancing trade between Punjab and Iran at the Punjab Business & Investment Trade Board. The meeting was attended by high ranking officials of Industries, Agriculture, Livestock & Dairy Development, Energy and other concerned departments. Mujtaba said the Punjab government was providing maximum facilities to the foreign investors for trade and investment and an autonomous institution had been set up for the guidance and help of trader community. He said Iran was our friendly country and we would welcome Iranian companies to invest in the public welfare projects. He said the leadership of Punjab was well-aware of the latest requirements of the modern era so the provincial government had given top priority to attract the foreign investment in the province and the concept of public-private partnership had been promoted in the province through good governance and economic cooperation programme. The foreign investment companies of Turkey, China and other friendly countries are investing in Punjab whereas exchange of students and trade delegations will further expand the trade between the friendly countries and Punjab, he concluded.
PU lab: A thermodynamics lab equipped with steam power plant and other modern equipment was inaugurated at PU’s Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology on Friday. PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated the lab while Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Director Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Amir Ejaz and others were also present.
