POLICE arrested a man and his wife, who were working as fake doctors, after the Lahore High Court on Thursday rejected their bail in a murder case lodged against them for killing a woman and her newborn during a surgery.
Ghzala and Abdul Rasheed were on interim bails in the case registered with Kot Ladha Police Station of Gujranwala district under Section 302 of the PPC on complaint of Muhammad Anwar, husband of the victim, Samina.
During the hearing on Thursday, an investigation officer told the court that Ghazala and Rasheed were not doctors by profession.
He pointed out that an inquiry team of the health department, constituted on directions of the Punjab chief minister, had confirmed that both the husband and wife did not have any license. According to the inquiry report, Ghazala was only a midwife while his husband was a health technician.
The officer also informed the court that six cases under Section 322 of the PPC (Pakistan Penal Code) had already been registered against both the fake doctors.
He also produced the record of the six cases before the court and requested the court to cancel the bails of the fake doctors.
At this, the court rejected the bail plea of the accused. Police arrested the couple as they came out of the courtroom.
