LAHORE

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday sent 36 accused on 14-day judicial remand for damaging public property on Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool.

Police had registered an FIR against 36 accused involved in pelting stones on police officers and damaging public property under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Police produced them before the court and submitted that they had turned violent and attacked public property that caused huge losses. They said many police officers were injured and police vans were also attacked during protests on Friday. Police requested the court to grant them 10-day physical remand to investigate the matter.

Relatives of the accused were also present in the court and they said that police had not arrested culprits but held those who were participating in the protest against the anti-Islam movie. They requested the court to release the accused.

However, the judge after hearing the arguments of both parties ordered police to send the accused on 14-day judicial remand.
