LAHORE

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced peaceful protests after Friday prayers appealing Muslims to join hands to condemn the blasphemous movie.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, PTI Vice President Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Secretary Information Shafqat Mahmood reiterated support for the strike called on September 21 in protest against the blasphemous movie.

Ejaz Chaudhry said maker of the film, Nakoula, first held its screening at a Hollywood theatre where they had informed law enforcement agencies beforehand that the content of the film might create unrest and agitation so arrangements should be made.

He said it was a conspiracy as the actors were daily given a script so that the project can remain under wraps before it is completed and made public. Shafqat Mahmood said the term “Freedom of expression” was just an excuse and that it cannot be used to justify defamation of Islam.
