LAHORE
Expressing deep concern over the PPP-led government’s utter failure in maintaining law and order throughout the country, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan has demanded the government step down and hold new elections after setting up a caretaker government.
He was talking to media at Mansoora on Saturday before leaving for Karachi. He said the country was burning in the fire of terrorism while rulers were busy in making amendments in the constitution and curtailing Supreme Court’s powers. He said the terrorism had made its way throughout the country which had put bad impacts on country’s economy. “The investors are transferring their investment abroad. Unemployment and inflation has made the lives of the people miserable and target killing, kidnap for ransom and bag packed bodies have become a routine matter,” he deplored.
He lamented that the law enforcement agencies were busy in providing security to rulers and arresting country fellows instead of chasing terrorists and culprits. “The situation has become so deplorable that even security forces are being attacked in broad daylight,” he regretted. Expressing his deep concern over attacks on security personnel in Gujrat and Lahore, he said that after Karachi and Balochistan, terrorism had gripped the Punjab in its worst form. He strongly reacted Prime Minister’s statement on Balochistan that Baloch people were living a luxurious life instead of taking measures to address issues, and the rulers were engaged in misguiding the people.
