Karachi

In a horrifying incident, the decomposed bodies of four people belonging to the same family were found in a house in the New Karachi Industrial Area on Sunday.

Medical experts estimated that the bodies had been lying undiscovered in the house for four to five days.

The bodies of Jamsheeda Bibi, 35, her daughters Amna, 13, and Hina, 15, and their grandfather, Rajab Ali, were recovered from House No-8 of Lane-11 in Sector 5-F of New Karachi, near the Sindhi Hotel.

Locals smelt a stench coming from the house and informed the police.

A mobile unit of the law enforcers came to the house and, finding the door bolted, broke the door. Upon entering the house, they found the four bodies and took them to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortems and other legal formalities.

During a search of the house, the police found three to four knives which they seized for investigations and also collected samples from the house for forensics tests.

The medico-legal officer of the hospital said that the victims had been slaughtered with a sharp weapon. During medical examinations, it was found that the bodies were five days old and the killer had intoxicated them before slaughtering them.

SHO Ishtiaq Ghauri suspected the involvement of Jehangir Bengali, the husband of Jamsheeda Bibi, in the killings, and said he was at large.

Learning that the suspect worked in a textile factory as a labourer in the North Karachi area, the SHO sent teams to the factory, where the police learnt that Jehangir Bengali had not came to the factory during the past four days.

Investigations further revealed that the suspect married Jamsheeda Bibi after divorcing his first wife.

The woman was a divorcee and her both daughters were from her first husband. According to area people, the couple usually entered into disputes upon minor issues.

SHO Ghauri said that it seemed that Jehangir Bengali killed the family for property as the house belonged to Jamsheeda Bibi, or he might have suspected that his wife was involved in illicit relations with somebody. However, it is premature to confirm the motive behind the murder at his stage, he added.
