A toddler was burnt alive and his elder sister received severe burn wounds when a fire erupted in the premises of Faizan-e-Rahim mosque in Federal B Area, within the remit of Yousaf Plaza police station, on Tuesday.
Police officials said the raging fire erupted in a living quarter situated beside the mosque but then engulfed a large part of the place of worship.
Two-and-a-half-year-old Umer, son of the mosque’s prayer leader Zulfiqar, was burnt alive while his three-year-old daughter, Rumaisa, received burn wounds.
Fire tenders finally reached the location and put out the blaze. Yousaf Plaza SHO stated the cause of the fire to be an electrical short circuit.
