An anti-terrorism court accepted on Saturday the final charge-sheet in the Safoora Goth bus attack case and issued non-bailable warrants for 11 absconders.
The attack had taken place in Safoora Goth on May 13 this year when some gunmen had boarded a bus carrying members of the Ismaili community and killed 45 people.
A charge-sheet was issued against Saad Aziz alias Tin Tin, Tahir Hussain Minhas alias Sain, Asad-ur-Rehman alias Malik, Hafiz Nasir alias Yasir, and Mohammad Azhar Ishrat alias Majid by investigation officer DSP Khalid. The other detained suspects include Sultan Qamar Siddiqui, his brother Hussain Qamar Siddiqui, and Sajid Naeem alias Pino, who are being tried for having facilitated and provided arms to the attackers.
The court issued warrants for 11 absconders in the case including Hafiz Muhammad Umar, Abdullah Bin Yousuf, Ali Rehman alias Tona, Muhammad Dawood, Zahid Motiwala and Tayyub.
The investigation officer has already been directed by the court to take up the issue of appointment of the special public prosecutor in the case.
The court has also issued a letter to the home department over the delay in the appointment.
Two special public prosecutors, Mohammad Khan Buriro and Mubashir Mirza, had resigned over financial and security reasons.
The police investigation report submitted in the court had revealed two brothers Sultam Qamr Siddiqui and Hussain Qamar Siddiqui had played a part in facilitating the suspected terrorists involved in killings of more than 45 people and injuring several others. The terrorists involved in the killings were provided with accommodation. The arms were purchased in the name of Hussain Qamar Siddiqui by an arms dealer Zahid Motiwala.
