The poet who penned down the enchanting Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan, Jamiluddin Aali, was laid to rest on Tuesday in the army graveyard where many of the country’s martyrs, including Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas, are buried.
In recognition of Aali’s patriotism and sheer love for the country, his heirs were offered to lay the great poet to rest in a space otherwise reserved for the defenders of Pakistan.
His funeral prayer was held in the Tooba mosque in DHA Phase 2 and was attended by relatives, friends and admirers from all walks of life.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was represented on the occasion by Special Assistant for National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui. Other dignitaries who attended the funeral included Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar, Pakistan People’s Party’s Karachi president Najmi Alam, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s Sindh president Haleem Adil Shaikh, Barrister Kamal Azfar, Barrister Ahmed Raza Qasuri, Mushtaq Mirza and Anwar Iqbal.
