Two groups of the University of Karachi (KU) non-teaching staff’s union staged protests, one after the other, in front of the varsity’s administration block over distribution of promotion letters, on Monday.
A group of the union protested the administration’s distribution of promotion letters to around 22 employees, claiming it was their job and not the administration’s.
The varsity’s administration had promoted around 22 of its employees, into grade BPS-13, over a week ago; however, the notifications were distributed on Monday. The promotions were given after the employees had completed their diplomas in information technology. However, soon after the first group’s protest ended, a second group staged a demonstration, at the same place, in support of the varsity’s administration.
