Four people including the Pirabad police SHO and a constable were injured in a grenade attack on a police vehicle near Banaras Chowk on Thursday.
As per details, two men on a motorcycle lobbed a hand grenade at the patrolling police mobile. The explosion resulted in injuries to SHO Shahid Khan, Constable Khadim Hussain and two passersby Safiullah and Niaz Gul.
They were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
According to a police official, the SHO along with other policemen was patrolling the area when the attack took place.
No case had been registered till the filling of this story. The attack was reported to be the second incident within two days. Two police constables deployed for security duty in FB Area were injured when unidentified suspects lobbed a cracker at them late on Wednesday night.
Three policemen had been performing snap checking of vehicles near D7 bus stop when two men riding a motorcycle lobbed a cracker in their direction. The cracker exploded and caused injuries to Constables Mehboob Ali, 37, and Mubarak Ali, 40.
They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors reported them to be in stable condition.
The FB Area police said the injured men were former army personnel and had been posted at the Central Reserve Police.
Injured cop passes away
A constable who was injured in firing near Jehangir Park in Saddar two days ago breathed his last on Thursday.
Constable Abdul Qayyum had been on security duty and had been performing snap checking of vehicles with Constable Muhammad Ibrahim when two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on them. Both policemen were injured and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Ibrahim had died on the way to the hospital but Abdul Qayyum had survived. However, the surviving policeman too breathed his last on Thursday and succumbed to his injuries.
