In less than a month, the provincial cabinet underwent another major reshuffle on Monday night with the education department falling under the command of senior minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro once again.
In the first round of cabinet reshuffle last month, the senior minister for education and literacy Nisar Ahmed Khuhro was handed the portfolio of information and irrigation departments while the minister for works and services Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani was asked to take over the education department.
However, Bijarani didn’t assume charge as the education and literacy minister because he had reservations with working with the current education secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho.
The News learnt that Bijarani had refused to work with the education secretary and wanted a new official in his place. Hence, on Monday, Nisar Khuhro was handed the additional charge of the education department, while Bijarani remains a minister without a portfolio.
As Khuhro remains the information minister with additional charge of the education department, the portfolio of irrigation department has been handed over to Syed Murad Ali Shah, who already holds the charge of finance, energy, and planning and development departments — a total of four departments.
Meanwhile, the portfolio of archives — which had been handed over to Khuhro along with information and irrigation during the earlier reshuffle — has landed back home with the new works and services minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who had been give charge of the department when Bijarani was asked to take charge of the education department.
Moreover, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Tariq Masood Arian, who took oath as a minister on Saturday, was given the charge of kutchi abadis and spatial development departments. The portfolio of katchi abadis fell vacant when Muhammad Jawaid Nagori had tendered his resignation as a minister on Friday, August 14, following the revelations pertaining to his ties with the banned People’s Aman Committee.
