Anti-terrorism courts (ATC) on Tuesday granted 90-day preventive detention of three activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) over different offences, while a fourth was acquitted in a double murder case.
Detention of accused Abdul Waqar and Muhammad Ali was acquired on charges of having committed ‘heinous crimes’ while the third, Abid Khan, was remanded over his alleged involvement in target killings, extortion besides other crimes.
The court was requested to endorse the order of apprehension of the detainees.
The investigators were also directed by the court to not cover the faces of the accused before presenting them in the court.

MQM man acquitted
An ATC acquitted MQM activist Mohib Abbas Rizvi from a double murder case due to lack of evidence.
Complainant Khalid Mehmood Madani had claimed that the accused had targeted and killed Jalal Ahmed and Irfan Babar in 2012, however, he never turned up in court after registering the case.
The prosecution also failed to present any proofs or witnesses following which the court acquitted Rizvi.
