The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology has established a radio laboratory named after slain Dr Waheed-ur-Rehman at its Department of Mass Communication.
Acting Vice Chancellor Fuuast Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser inaugurated the radio lab on Monday.
The university already has a television lab and become the first public university to have both TV and radio labs.
The assassinated professor, also known by his pen-name Yasir Rizvi, started his teaching career at the Fuuast and then moved to University of Karachi. He was killed in a targeted attack on April 29.
The radio lab was funded by various philanthropists along with varsity’s financial aid. The project has been completed under the supervision of Professor Dr Irfan Aziz.
