Two PPP workers killed in Malir

The information secretary for constituency PS-127 of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was shot dead with another worker by unidentified gunmen in Malir on Friday night, prompting the chief minister to take notice of the incident and ask for a report from the Sindh IGP Ghulam Hyder Jamali.
The deceased were identified as 48-year-old Sharif Lashari and 40-year-old Anwar Baloch. Sharif was a former councillor from the area and was currently working as the PPP’s information secretary for PS-127. Baloch was a party worker from district Malir.
According to Malir City SHO Faisal Khan, Lashari and Baloch had been at their usual meeting place in Ghazi Town area near the Bakra Piri when armed assailants arrived on a motorcycle and shot at them.
Both were critically wounded and were taken to the Jinnah hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Police said both the deceased received multiple bullet wounds in the chest with a 9mm pistol. Malir City SHO said a case had been registered and further investigations are under way. He said it seemed that the PPP workers fell prey to targeted attack.
After the new of their killing spread, several local leaders of the PPP reached the hospital where they staged a protest and demanded the arrest of the killers.
The party’s media cell issued a statement condemning the murders and expressing condolences with the bereaved families.

Two terrorists gunned down
A team of the Manghopir police gunned down two members of a banned outfit in the wee hours of Friday.
According to SSP West Azfar Mehshar, police stations and units had been assigned the task of carrying out raids on the hideouts of militants.
The Manghopir police received a tip-off about the presence militants belonging to banned outfit in Mianwali Colony. Subsequently, a joint team of the Peerabad and Manghopir police raided a hideout near the Khan Drug Den in Mianwali Colony.
When the men present inside saw the policemen, they opened fire and lobbed hand grenades upon which the police were forced to retaliate.
After a brief shootout, two terrorists were arrested in injured condition while their associates managed to flee. A hand grenade and two TT pistols were also recovered from their possession. They expired during treatment. The police claim that the deceased suspects were involved in the killing of policemen and other incidents of terrorism. They said they had been working as peddlers for notorious narcotics dealer Khan.
