The Shuhada Committee on Thursday accused the Sindh chief minister and the government of not fulfilling the promises made to heirs of the martyrs of the Shikarpur blast.
Addressing the press conference at Karachi press club on Thursday, the chairman of the committee Maulana Maqsood Ali Domki said that the Qaim Ali Shah had failed to honour his promises made with the heirs of the martyrs of the incident.
Other members of the body and heirs of the martyrs of the blast were also present at press conference.
At least 61 people were killed and dozens others injured in an explosion inside a central Imambargah in Shikarpur on January 30, this year.
Domki, who is also the office-bearer of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, said that the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies had assured us to bust the group involved in the blast but only four terrorists were apprehended and the list of accused provided by the committee had not been detained yet. He demanded of the Qaim Ali Shah and law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest the terrorists involved in the blast and other incidents of sectarian killings in Sindh, saying that the leniency of the government and the LEAs might give boost to terrorist activities. Domki said the chief minister had assured the committee for providing arms licenses to all the community notables and custodians of mosques, Imambargahs and shrines but the promise had not been fulfilled yet.
“It’s the responsibility of every person living in Sindh to protect this land from extremism” he asserted. Domki demanded of the chief minister for early provision of the compensation amount to martyrs and injured of Shikarpur blast as announced by him on behalf of the Bahria Town chief.
