If the Sindh government led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wants to build a consensus for the passage of the annual budget next month in the Sindh Assembly, it should begin taking the opposition parties into confidence about matters pertaining to it.
This was said by leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), while talking to the media on Thursday after a parliamentary delegation of his party met at the at the House for considering proposals for the upcoming budget.
He advised the Sindh government to introduce a budget which could prove to be helpful in resolving people’s problems with efficiency while taking into account the recommendations of all parliamentary parties.
Hassan said the upcoming budget should also include provisions for the proposed major development schemes for each district of the province, including those in Karachi.
He said the MQM wasn’t politicising the shortage of water in Karachi in any way and had instead proposed a number of ways in which the government could resolve the water crisis in Karachi and other urban parts of the province.
The opposition leader said some other parties had also begun agitating over the water crisis. However, he advised them to immediately leave their air-conditioned rooms and begin talking to people who brave the hot weather and then go home to dry taps.
He also advised them to stop politicising the issue and take practical steps for the mitigation of people’s problems.
Hassan said the MQM will continue to play a positive role for resolving the issues being faced by people of province and Karachi.
