The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of hashish and arrested three drug peddlers from Pasni near Gwadar.
The PCG received a tip-off about an attempt to smuggle hashish abroad via sea and started patrolling along the Coastal Highway. An oil tanker was spotted along with a Toyota double-door vehicle; the alleged smugglers opened fire on the coast guards team and managed to flee.
The vehicle was chased down and an inspection led to the recovery of 3,130 kg of hashish. A PCG spokesman said initial investigations revealed that the narcotics were destined for the Middle East and Europe.
