The South Zone police on Tuesday announced a cash reward for anyone who provides relevant information about the murder of T2F director Sabeen Mehmud.
Last week the police had declared that they were making considerable headway and were closing in on the culprits with the help of geofencing and sketches made with the help of eye witnesses.
However, now they have openly approached the people and have urged them to provide information leading to her killers, with the assurance that their identities would be kept secret, in exchange for a ‘handsome’ cash reward.
According to a handout issued from the office of SIG South Dr Jamil Ahmed, any citizen with any ‘solid information’ regarding the assassination of Sabeen Mahmud should contact the police at 021-99205670-71.
“The identity of the citizen will be kept a secret and a handsome cash reward will also be given to him or her,” it states.
Sabeen Mahmud was gunned down near the Defence Library on Sunset Boulevard on April 24 by two armed assailants riding a motorcycle when she was returning home from T2F with her mother and driver. Her mother, Mehnaz Mehmud, had also received serious bullet injuries.
Mehnaz Mehmud had registered the case for her daughter’s murder at the Defence police station.
