Four members, including a commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Swat (TTS), were gunned down during a shootout in Sohrab Goth on Monday.
District Malir Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwaar said the operation was conducted following a tip-off.
He claimed the men opened fire on the police on which the officials retaliated resulting in injuries to the suspects while two of their associates managed to escape. The men were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in an injured condition but were pronounced dead on arrival.
A sub-machine gun (SMG), three pistols and explosive materials were found from their hideout. One of the killed terrorist was identified as Akber Badhshah who was said to be the commander of TTS in his area.

‘Cop killers’ held
The district West police in a raid conducted in Lyari arrested two suspects accused of killing a policeman in SITE area.
SSP Azfar Mehsar, said the men arrested following the brief encounter were identified as Noman and Wajid; they were moved to the investigation unit for further probe. He claimed to have found two SMGs of the policemen attacked on Sunday in the SITE-B police remit and a 9mm pistol on them.
He added the culprits were employees of K-Electric and were involved in stealing copper wire from the area when in an ensuing encounter PC Adil Nawaz was killed and PC Sadaqat was injured.
