The corporate sector will continue to play its due role in social welfare activities, said chief executive of the Trade Development Association S M Munir.
He was addressing as a chief guest at the annual fund-raising event of the Al-Mustafa Trust and Medical Center here on Sunday.
Munir said the government alone cannot solve all the issues and the role of private sector in welfare activities could not be ignored.
He said, “We will continue to play our role in furthering the social service cause through philanthropy.”
Al-Mustafa Trust Chairman Lt General (Retd) Ghulam Muhammad Malik said the trust was not only working in different parts of Pakistan but also in the UK.
He said the trust provides free of charge medical facilities to the deserving people, adding eleven branches of Al-Mustafa Trust were already operating in the country and soon a new branch would be opened in Khushab.
Leading industrialist Abdullah Dadabhoy said that the social organisations were discharging the responsibilities that should have been discharged by the government departments.
Chairman Shafi Industries Muhammad Naseem Shafi said the philanthropists should come forward to lessen the burden of social welfare organizations.
