Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar said on Tuesday that Karachi would be made a peaceful city, Geo News reported.
The corps commander held out the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of traders and industrialists, who called on him.
During the meeting, the businessmen exchanged tviews with Lieutenant General Mukhtar on Karachi’s law and order situation.
The corps commander assured them that the operation in the metropolis would be continued till the elimination of all criminals. He also vowed to make Karachi a peaceful city.
The corps commander was of the view that peace in Karachi was important for the country’s economy.
All the seven industrial zones of the metropolis would be provided with assistance in view of the law and order situation in the city, he said.
On March 21, after attending the funeral of two Rangers soldiers who were killed in a suicide attack on their van in North Nazimabad a day earlier, Lieutenant General Mukhtar had said attacks on armed forces and law enforcement agencies would not affect the pace of the operation that would continue till the restoration of a lasting peace to the city.
“They [paramilitary soldiers] have sacrificed their lives for a great cause of bringing peace. Let me assure you that their sacrifice will bear fruit and the operation in the city will continue as such attacks cannot deter our forces and soldiers. We will take this operation to its logical end,” he had said.
