Former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Munawar Hasan has expressed his deep concern over “baseless” campaign initiated against religious seminaries as a part of the National Action Plan.
He said the exercise had been started on the pressure of western powers.
Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of ‘Jamiat-ul-Ikhwan’ Madressah in the New Karachi area on Monday, the JI leader demanded immediate halt to assault on religious seminaries, as he said, “they were playing a vital role in eliminating discrimination and creating brotherhood.”
“Madaris are one of the important pillars of the state and playing a significant role in the development and progress of the country”, Hasan added.
He further said that the government was taking action against the religious seminaries just to please the “scholar lobby”, adding that the JI will not allow anyone to be successful in their nefarious designs.
Hasan made it clear that the Jamaat-e-Islami would take any possible step to defend the religious seminaries.
Maulana Abdul Waheed, Ameer JI District Central Munim Zafar Khan, Muhammad Ahmed Qadri, Qasim Rasheed, Noman Habib and others were also present at the occasion.
