A renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Aga Khan University Hospital was inaugurated on Wednesday.
The unit will offer emergency, in-patient and intensive care facilities for early-born babies, providing specialised care to its neonatal patients.
AKUH President Firoz Rasul said Rs200 million had been donated for the expansion. He hoped that more donors would follow and establish more sophisticated facilities at the hospital to serve the ailing humanity.
Dr Zeelaf B. Munir, the chairperson of English Biscuits Manufacturers board, said: “For parents of babies born early, however, it is a time of anxiety. Families and their new additions need specially trained medical staff, special equipment and special understanding to survive this period. We are delighted to partner with AKUH on this initiative.”
