NAB DG for concerted efforts to curb corruption

The National Accountability Bureau Sindh director general has stressed for working together for the eradication of the menace of corruption from the society.
Colonel (retd) Naeem Siraj was addressing a seminar on ‘Freedom of Information and Whistle Blower Protection’ on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Transparency International Pakistan in collaboration with the NAB.
The DG said, “We have set up a hotline and email address for receiving complaints against the corruption and names of those who give information will be keep confidential.”
Giving a summary of the NAB’s awareness and prevention programme, Siraj said that the bureau has reached out to school students and the general public where it stressed on subjects such as ethics and morality because it was better to prevent corruption than to later prosecute the perpetrators.
Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) Chairman Sohail Muzzaffar, Advisor Adil Gilani, Coordinator Maryam Javaid, Justice (retd) Haziqul Khairi and others also spoke.
They said that for the eradication of corruption it was necessary that there should be no hurdle in access to information and also called for giving protection to those who provide information about corruption to the NAB.
