Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Minister Mir Mumtaz Hussain Jakhrani said on Wednesday that bus stands situated near government and private schools would be removed to beef up security measures in the wake of Peshawar school tragedy.
He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting at his office which was also attended by education minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh police officials and representatives of Private School Management Committee.
He said complete bio-data of school van drivers will be registered at the police stations concerned while closed-circuit camera monitoring was also being installed and improved around schools.
Jakhrani said the government will provide weapons licences to private security guards deputed at private schools and the home department had already been notified to take the necessary action in this regard.
He said everyone had a role to play to root out terrorism from the country and it was everyone’s duty to inform the police of any suspicious activity.
