A demolition squad of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) was beaten in Gulberg Town on Friday when they reached there to raze illegal structures.

A press release issued by the authority said that when the team arrived to demolish illegal constructions on plot numbers R-689 and R-690 in Block 19 of Federal B Area, the owner claiming to be a bar council member threatened the staff, and his accomplices beat them up.

Soon Samanabad police appeared and controlled the situation. Later, the illegal structures on the third and fourth floors of the houses were demolished. The SBCA wrote to the inspector general of police and other police authorities, asking them to lodge an FIR against the owner of the plots.
