Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that his party was still waiting for the investigations to be completed in Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

 

“It is a tough time for us as his death has saddened all MQM workers and supporters.”

 

He was talking to the media after offering fateha for Dr Farooq on his second death anniversary held at Lal Qila on Sunday which was held with reverence. Gatherings were held by the MQM throughout Pakistan for offering fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran in order to pay homage to the late leader.

 

The main gathering was held at the Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad. Dr Farooq’s parents Muhammad Farooq and Begum Raisa Farooq, his sisters and other family members were also present on the occasion.

 

Dr Sattar said that the sacrifices of Dr Farooq would always be remembered. He paid rich tributes to Dr Farooq and thanked the people who had come to pay homage to him.

 

Deputy Conveners of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani, Nasreen Jalil, other members of the committee, MNAs, MPAs, office-bearers of various wings and sectors and a large number of sympathisers also attended the gathering to pay tribute to Dr Farooq.

 

Noted religious scholar Maulana Asad Deobandi offered special prayer for the divine blessings of the soul of Dr Farooq. He also prayed for the security and integrity of the country and long life of Altaf Hussain.

 

Similar gatherings were also held in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Badin, Larkana, Naushehroferoze, Dadu, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Khairpur, Thatta, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Jamshoro.

 

In the Punjab the gatherings for fateha were held in Lahore and Multan. Gatherings were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir as well.
