A man facing charges of killing more than 100 people was remanded on Friday in the custody of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) till August 15.

 

Javed alias Bunda was produced before several courts, including the courts of the judicial magistrate of Central, the judicial magistrate of West and Anti-terrorism Court (II), which remanded him for another five days.

 

When the accused was brought before the judicial magistrate (West-II), Link Judicial Magistrate Ashfaq Ahmed Nizamani allowed his physical remand and directed an SIU team to ensure his production at the next hearing.

 

The SIU Saddar team, describing the details of crimes allegedly committed by the accused, told the court that Javed has many nicknames, including Bunda, Faisal and Ahmed. He along with other absconding co-accused is alleged to have committed more than 100 target killings in the SITE police remit and other areas of the city.

 

An SIU team had arrested Javed and recovered a Kalashnikov and a 9mm pistol in Orangi Town’s Qasba Colony on July 31. The court was further informed that the accused was also involved in police encounters and possession of illegal arms.According to SIU chief SSP Khurrram Waris, Javed was involved in more than 150 cases of target killings, extortion, kidnappings for ransom.
