Karachi

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is the only party which can propel the country forward and liberate the people through its “revolutionary manifesto”, said Liaquat Baloch, the party’s central leader, on Sunday.

He was addressing a rally which was gathered at the Korangi crossing, after its participants started their march from Quaidabad at 3pm, towards their destination.

“Opposition parties must unite to mount pressure on the provincial election commission, for the rectification of the voters’ lists.”

JI leaders demanded that the government announce the date of the general elections at the earliest.

The party’s Karachi chief Mohammad Hussain Mahenti said the ruling coalition was trying to derail the democratic processes by helping increase the confrontation between government institutions and the judiciary.

“Those who voted these corrupt rulers into power, ought to make a wise decision this time, by choosing JI, which is corruption-free.”

He said the Jamaat had given great sacrifices for an independent judiciary, and ward off efforts by the United States to enslave the nation.

‘People should vote for JI’

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hassan said that now the people should vote for the JI, the party free of corruption, instead of voting for the corrupt leaders.

In a statement issued here he said that the crisis in the country due to confrontation of institutions was an agenda of the US.

He said that the JI was the only party which could resolve the basic problems of the people and bring justice for them at their doorsteps. Hassan said that the present coalition government had failed to resolve the problems of the people and the only solution was to announce the date of general elections.
