Three people were murdered in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday.

A 35-year-old truck driver, Abdul Sattar Khan, was shot near Madiha Stop in North Karachi in the afternoon.

The Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police said the man was heading towards North Karachi in his truck when two men on a motorcycle rode up next to his vehicle and told him to stop. Sattar accelerated his truck in an attempt to escape, but the two men chased him and opened fire on him.

Sattar was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died. He suffered two bullet wounds. The police found empty 9mm pistol shells at the crime scene.

Investigators said it was premature to establish the motive behind the murder, but the police would investigate both the angles of personal enmity and target killing. The victim was a resident of Khwaja Ajmer Nagri.

Separately, a man identified as Abdul Hameed was gunned down in Bhains Colony in the morning. Sukhan SHO Sarfraz said when the police reached the colony, they were informed that the murderer had fled.

They chased the suspect, Adnan, and after an encounter arrested him and also recovered the murder weapon. The victim’s body was found at his house and was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. Hameed was the owner of a cattle pen. He was at his house when his relative Adnan visited him to talk about a marriage dispute involving his sister.

The two men became embroiled in a heated argument and Adnan shot Hameed.

In another incident, a man was killed in Mansehra Colony in the afternoon. Sharafi Goth SHO Ijaz Khokhar said the victim, Shahid Khan, was a labourer and resident of the same area where he was murdered. He was shot outside his house by two men on a motorcycle. The SHO said the murder could be motivated by personal enmity as the victim had a dispute with a group over some petty issue. A few weeks ago, his uncle, Fazal Ahmed, was also killed over the same dispute.

Bodies found

Three bodies were found in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

A strangulated and tortured body, which was dumped in Jauharabad, was found by the area police, after a tip-off by some passers-by.

The hands and legs of the 35-year-old victim, Shahid, son of Noor Mohammed, were tied with a piece of rope.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the medico-legal officer (MLO) confirmed that the man was asphyxiated to death after being tortured.

In what police claimed to be a targeted killing, Shahid was kidnapped by his killers before being murdered. He was a resident of Hussainabad.

Another body of a 30-year-old man was found lying near the Malir river in Qayyumabad.

Some passers-by saw the body and informed the police, who shifted it to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

An MLO at the facility revealed that the body bore torture marks, two bullet wounds and was at least 48 hours old.

Police claimed it to be a targeted killing and that the man was kidnapped before being killed.

In a separate incident, a teenager was killed when he was struck on the head with a hard and blunt object.

Body of the 17-year-old boy was found near Sherpao Colony and shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

According to police, an eyewitness revealed that the boy died on the spot after unknown men struck him hard on the head, and fled the scene. It was said that the murder was a result of an old enmity.
