A neurosurgeon of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro was kidnapped on Sunday.
Prof Aftab Qureshi was on his way to Hyderabad from his Karachi clinic when he was abducted by unknown men, according to reports.
No FIR had been registered till the filing of this report on Sunday night.
Police officials said that it could not be said who was behind the kidnapping of doctors in particular and businessmen in general.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) demanded immediate action against the kidnappers and safe recovery of the doctor.
“We demand immediate recovery of Prof Qureshi; otherwise, the health system of Sindh will be stopped. Due to incompetency of the Government of Sindh, doctors are kidnapped, killed and tortured,” Dr Saeed Ahmed Memon, president of the PMA Sindh, and Dr Pir Manzoor Ali, general secretary of the association, said in a statement.
“We also condemn the attitude of te government towards doctors’ fraternity,” they said.
