KARACHI: Tax practitioners on Monday urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to further extend the last date for filing annual income tax return for tax year 2015 by one month ie November 30.
In a letter to the FBR chairman, Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) said that a majority of taxpayers and tax practitioners would not be able to file their returns and statement of final taxation by October 31 due to various reasons including Muharram holidays.
“During the period the internet and mobile phone services were non-operative and the main business hub of the city was closed owing to blockade by law enforcement agencies,” the KTBA said.
The KTBA asked that the date for filing income tax returns and statement of final taxation should be extended till November 30.
The FBR has already extended the last date for filing annual income tax returns up to October 31 for all taxpayers except those corporates which are required to file their return by December 31, 2015.
