LAHORE: Ban on one dish would result in a chain reaction, as it would not only pinch a large number of industries associated with weddings, but would also snatch employment of millions of workers, a statement said on Saturday.
Pakistan Poultry Association Chairman Dr Kamal Mustafa said imposition of one dish law was a visionary decision of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the existing law should be implemented in true spirit.
There were thousands of wedding halls in Punjab, while the poultry industry is the biggest stakeholder in this issue, he said, adding, investment of billions of rupees would be badly affected if ban on one dish is also imposed without keeping in view ground realities.
Most of the people attached with wedding halls and associated industries are daily wagers and if ban on one dish is imposed, they would left with no other option, but to beg, he said.
He expressed the hope that the Punjab chief minister would keep the existing law of one dish intact and will give protection to millions of people.
