MARDAN: The police busted a gang involved in looting people in different parts of the district by arresting four people and recovering Rs4.3 million and two motorbikes used in the crimes, officials said on Wednesday.
District Police Officer Muhammad Sajjad Khan told a press conference that a gang of robbers had been looting people in different parts of the district for the last several weeks.
He added that the gang looted Rs3 million from Shamsh-ur-Rehman, a known flour dealer, at gunpoint while he was travelling in his car. The robbers also injured him.
The official added that later the gang snatched Rs2 million from Tajdar Mohammad, a dealer of bricks, at Gujjar Garhi.
He added that the gang also looted Rs0.4 million from a trader, Malang, in Sheikh Maltoon Town.
In other incidents, he said, the gang looted Rs3,50,000 from a transporter Ghafoor Khan at Muqam Chowk and Rs1,80,000 from constable Majid Khan.
He added that on the directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO), Mardan Range, Mohammad Ali Gandapur, a team headed by him with SP Operations Mushtaq Khan, ASP City Ali Bin Tariq, SHO Hoti Muqadam Khan, and SHO City Mohsin Fawad started investigating the robberies.
