SUKKUR: Nara canal annually eroding 600 acres agricultural land, which compelled the citizens to migrate, sources said.
Nara town of Khairpur known to be desert town of Khairpur where residents complain about the shortage of irrigation water, as well as drinking water and the other basic facilities such as health, education, electricity and droughts badly affecting upon the routine lives of the people of Nara. The only source of the citizens of the Nara town was agriculture produce and their cattle.
Reports said that another threat to the people of Nara town was land erosion by the Nara Canal, which is a large irrigation system.
Villagers, including Ali Hassan, Kamaluddin, Wali Muhammed and Soomar Aradin sharing their miseries said that Nara Canal annually eroding 600 acres agricultural land, besides this seepage and waterlogging also converting their hundreds acres of agricultural land into barren.
They said that Deh Khiriri, Pir Bakhsh Ghaho, Chohar, Fatah Pota, Soomar Wari, Tajal, Pir Ibu, Danghri and other Dehs under the threat of the seepage and waterlogging of the Nara Canal They said that hundreds of the people have migrated to other areas for the search of food.
