KARACHI: The federal government is considering to file the case of Dr Imran Farooq’s murder in Pakistan after mysterious silence of the Scotland Yard, said Shahzeb Khanzada while presenting his analysis in Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ on Friday. Britain does not appear eager and seems not in a hurry in demanding the handover Mohsin Ali Syed, Khalid Shamim and Moazzam Ali, the three accused in the murder case. It was after this decision that text of the FIR has been sent to the Ministry of Interior for registration of case against them in Pakistan.
In his analysis Khanzada said the Karachi Ameer of the banned Hizbu-ul-Tahreer has been arrested in a counter-terrorism operation. The man was employed as Deputy General Manager of the K-Electric. Presence of a person with anti-state ideas at such an important post should be worrisome.
Talking about registration of FIR against Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders prior to the local bodies’ elections to be held on December 5 in Karachi, Khanzada analysed that the incident indicates increase in political temperature of the city. FIRs have been registered against more than eight leaders and 2,000 workers of the MQM for staging protest against Rangers. On the other hand there are reservations being expressed by the People’s Party on Dr Asim’s arrest.
Shahzeb Khanzada pointed out in his analysis said there are worries over future of the country’s economy and the economic model. The government is securing loan but the policy for repayment of these loans is not known.
Chairman Board of Investment Miftah Ismail said the government has no plans to enhance the burden of loans but would reduce them. He said the former government of the People’s Party had left leaving GDP’s 64.5 percent loans, but PML-N’s government is making attempts and by now has reduce this ratio to 60 percent.
Miftah Ismail said there is not as much foreign investment in Pakistan. There is need to bring in more and more foreign investment so as to repay the loans. He pointed out that there was 15.1 percent investment against the GDP. He said there would more and more industries after the end of the gas and power crisis. He said the power crisis would end in 2017, while the current would be far better.
There could be no political and economic stability in the country unless there is peace, law order in Karachi, said former governor of Sindh Lt Gen (R) Moeenuddin Haidar, while speaking in the programme. He said the Karachi operation is part of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He pointed out that banned organisations, Lyari gang war and other armed group are active. The Rangers have not interest in politics and are engaged in operation against terrorists, target killers, extortionists, kidnappers for ransom and other criminals. There are certain people in Karachi who offer to handover the culprits from among them but never do so. The Rangers are authorised to go anywhere to arrest the accused. They have nothing to do with politics and political parties may continue their election campaign.
Yet another speaker in the programme was a leader of the MQM Faisal Sabzwari. He said no FIR was registered against the rally of a banned organisation but FIRs and cases were registered against the MQM. He said the MQM was extending full cooperation in the Karachi operation. This should be taken as extending of our cooperation that there is no resistance even after arrest of thousands of workers, missing of numerous activists and extra-judicial killings.
Muttahida expressed reservations on 40 or 50 occasions even after more than 5,000 raids. He said the Muttahida expels from the party the workers involved in social evils and those not following the party discipline. He said it not fair to blame the whole party for the fault of an individual. It is not possible to continue the election campaign after raids of the Rangers, he said, adding that the political opponents of the MQM are gaining due to the arrests of the MQM workers. Sabzwari said the MQM supports all actions taken to crush the criminals.
Geo News reporter Aizaz Syed, speaking in the programme, said the Ministry of Interior has decided to register murder case against the three arrested accused in Pakistan. The three men had gone to Britain from Pakistan, therefore, it has been decided to register case against them in Pakistan. The investigating agencies already have confession statements of the three in connection with Dr Imran Farooq’s murder.
