PM directs NHA to upgrade DI Khan-Zhob section of N-50

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday directed the National Highway Authority to upgrade the D.I.Khan-Mughal Kot-Zhob section of the N-50 to four-lane dual carriageway after negotiating funding from the Asian Development Bank within a month.
The prime minister said if the required funding from the Asian Development Bank was unavailable, additional funding from the Public Sector Development Programme shall be provided as per the requirement, said a press release issued here.
The prime minister also directed for acquisition of land for the entire western alignment of the CPEC for a six-lane, limited access motorway at this stage to guard against any complications at a later stage.
The prime minister also constituted a committee to identify potential sites for the future industrial zones along the western route. The committee shall comprise the chairman of the Board of Investment, the chief secretaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and the chairman of the National Highway Authority while a BS-21 officer each would represent the Finance Division, the Ministry of Industries and Production, the Ministry of
Water and Power, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, and the secretary of the Board of Investment who will also be the secretary of the said committee. The chairman of the Board of Investment shall be the convener of the committee. The committee will submit its report to the prime minister through the minister for finance within fifteen days.
