FAISALABAD: Seven private schools associations of Faisalabad warned of taking out rallies and staging demonstrations if the government did not withdraw the Punjab Private Educational Institutions Ordinance 2015. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Private Schools Associations Joint Action Committee chairman Rana Tahir Saleem Khan termed the ordinance anti-education and said that it was a deep-rooted conspiracy of the Punjab government to eliminate the private schools and to debar them from imparting quality education to the students. He said that the ordinance was promulgated in haste, which had made the procedure for registration of private schools more complicated. He said that the ordinance had been enforced in the Punjab province only whereas no such act was formulated and implemented in other provinces of the country. He said that more than 70,000 private schools were imparting quality education to students at low fees as compared to the public sector schools. He disclosed that the Punjab government was spending Rs 15,000-16,000 per student to impart him education in the government schools. He said that the government had increased the monetary assistance by 20 per cent for the schools running under the supervision of the Punjab Education Foundation whereas the private schools were bound to increase only 5 per cent fees after a year.
