LALAMUSA: Pakistan People’s Party information secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that though PM Nawaz Sharif and PTI chief Imran Khan have won the Lahore by-elections, it is a defeat of the constitution, law and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said that the election code of conduct was violated openly in Lahore. He alleged that the prime minister interfered in the by-elections and it was a clear cut violation of the election rules. He said that such type of violations would affect democracy in the country. It was claimed that less money was spent on electioneering in Lahore which was against the fact as streets, corners, poles and trees were covered with banners and posters, he added.
He said that new Pakistan might be made by following laws and rules. He said that rules, regulations and constitution were overlooked for winning a seat in the by-elections. He said that the by-elections had exposed all and the Election Commission of Pakistan officers should think about giving their resignations.
Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Tariq Mehmood of Dinga visited Dera Kaira and condoled with Qamar Zaman Kaira and former PPP district president Tahir Zaman Kaira over the death of Kaira family head Nasrullah Kaira.
