PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday arrested a former principal of the Ayub Medical College on the charge of misuse of authority. The Accountability Court Judge, Ibrahim Khan, has remanded the accused Dr Muhammad Ayub in judicial custody for 14 days. A NAB communiqué said the accused, currently working with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) as medical expert, was allegedly involved in cheating public at large. It said the accused lured students into getting admissions in an illegal and unregistered medical institution in Abbottabad.
It added that during the course of inquiry, it came to surface that Dr Muhammad Ayub with malafide intention recommended National Institute of Medical Sciences for registration with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) in gross violation of criteria. The communiqué said that Dr Ayub abetted with the other accused to defraud the parents of more than Rs500 million.
