PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday arrested a former divisional forest officer Muqarrab Shah.
In a statement, the NAB claimed that Shah was allegedly involved in accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income worth millions of rupees.
It said the matter was brought into the notice of the NAB authorities. Taking cognizance of the matter, it said an inquiry was authorised to ascertain the real facts and collect requisite evidence about moveable and immoveable properties owned, controlled and possessed by the accused in his name and in the name of his dependents.
During inquiry, the bureau revealed that during his service in the Forest Department, the accused had accumulated huge assets beyond his known sources of income, including two houses each on 10 marla plots in Paharipura, Peshawar, 61 kanals, 17 marlas land at Moza Dhedan, Haripur, four kanals plot at Moza Azakhel Bala, Nowshera, two plots including 10 and 9 marlas at Moza Kambo, Peshawar, a 10-marla plot at Phase-6, Hayatabad, Peshawar, 02 x 02 kanals land at Moza Mera Khandar, Nowshera, 7 kanals land at Moza Tanan, Qalandar Abad, Abbottabad and 3 plots each measuring 19 marlas, 16 marlas and 7 marlas at Abbottabad.
Additionally, it said the accused owned expensive vehicles and huge unexplained transactions in the bank accounts.
The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is pursuing the case and more properties are expected to be unearthed, the statement said. The accused will be produced before the accountability court for obtaining his physical remand today.
